One of our many "God" stories...

I was looking back over our blog and saw where I had mentioned we had many "God" stories of how we felt God was speaking to us about adoption and I had said I would share some of those stories, so here goes (and this is one of my favorites).
While we were at the Mexican orphanage in 2006 I knew that God was telling me that we should adopt and give a child a home, however DJ thought that I needed to listen again because he was SURE I was not hearing God correctly. We were 37 years old with 3 bio kids, our home was set, our careers were set and we were pretty settled and comfortable in our routine so WHY would God ask us to throw a monkey wrench into our calm, comfortable lives and do something SO strange.
Well, I prayed and prayed and scanned the computer and looked at agency packets and looked at other adotive parents blogs and I just could NOT get it out of my head that this was what we were suppose to do.
Long-story-short, DJ never said "no", but I always felt like I was pulling him along. He would do it, but more because I wanted to do it, not because he felt the call to adopt.
Finally we decided on Wu,Ming Jun (now Ruthie Jun), and we had 1 week to review her file and decide if we wanted to persue her adoption. By this time I was beginning to get cold feet about this big change in our lives so I told DJ that I would leave the decision totally up to him. We would pray about it, and if he decided "yes" for Jun...great. If he decided "no" to Jun but "yes" we would keep looking...great. If he decided "no" to Jun and "no" to adoption...great. I would support any decision he made, because I wanted him to want this as much as I wanted it (and if he said no, then I could blame it all on him :> )
Well, he comes home from work that afternoon all excited and tells me the following story:

As told by DJ:
" I was at work today at one of the more rural school in the county and I was praying really hard for God to give me a sign. I could not get anything done because I just had this burden on me for this huge decision. I told God, "just give me a sign of what you want me to do. I will be obedient to whatever you say, but I need to know what the right decision is for my wife, my kids and our family." About that time the bell rang for the kids to change classes. I look up and this Asian girl about 14-15 years old is coming down the hall, she stops and looks directly at me and smiles, turns and goes into a room. I almost fell out because it was one of the moments where there were kids everywhere but I couldnt see any of them except her. I knew in my heart that I had just saw Ruthie Jun as a teenager. I mean, what is the likelyhood that in the hundreds and hundreds of kids in that school, an Asian girl will stop in the hall, look directly at me and smile at the same minute I am asking God for a sign."

DJ said it was at that moment he knew we were suppose to adopt the little girl in the photo and he was full steam ahead!!

On a side note. The next day DJ was in the office and was speaking to the principal and asked him who the little Asian girl was that went to the school. The principal said, "DJ, we dont have any Asian kids in school here." DJ said, "yeah, the little Asian girl, about 14-15 years old", then he tells him which hall he saw her on. The principal replied, "DJ, you are in the middle of "highschoolname", deep in the county, I promise you there are no Asian children in our school or I would know about it." ......mouth drops....

Gives you chills doesn't it??

Again, aint God good!!
