Well, no one said this would be smooth sailing and so far it hasn't been :>
We did not receive our itinerary until late Friday night, so we were attempting to book our flights this weekend. Anyone who knows me knows that I can make a penny scream so I spent the good part of Friday night comparing airlines and travel agencies to get the BEST price. MISTAKE
Sometimes it is just better to leave things to the pro's and pay a little extra. I narrowed it down to Priceline.com for the best price. I had been told by the "professional helper" person that I needed to book Ruthie Jun's ticket when I booked mine and Peyton's because you cant book a minor's ticket alone (it had to be booked with an adult ticket). SOOOOO, I booked 3 tickets, round-trip, because that is the only way the Priceline.com website would take the booking. I assumed we would just have an extra seat on the way over. That is what the "professional helper" said.
Well, long story short, that is not the way it works. After we booked the tickets, After we confirmed, After we paid THEN we were told that unless Ruthie Jun checked in on the Atlanta leg of the flight her ticket would be null and void and she could not use it. Well, if she could check in on the Atlanta leg of the flight I would just bring her back home with me and forget the whole China experience!!!
Talk about panic!!! We called the airlines who told us that they could do nothing because Priceline.com sold us the tickets, Priceline.com said there was nothing they could do because once you purchase tickets from them they are nonrefundable. Blah, Blah, Blah
Well, my wonderful husband and soulmate stayed on the phone for hours and hours that night and I sayed on the phone for hours and hours the next day and we prayed and prayed and FINALLY they said they could cancel the whole flight (all 3 tickets) for $600.00 and we could rebook and they would apply the $600.00 to our new booking. Whew.
BTW when they tried to rebook the tickets they found out that their system will not allow you to book a oneway ticket for a minor in another country unless you book an adult at the same time (which we now know) And since I am getting a round trip and she is getting one way ours can't be booked together, THEREFORE they cant book our tickets AT ALL.
After another several hours on the phone priceline.com has agreed that since they can't book the tickets, there is no way for us to apply the $600.00 to our trip therefore they will "consider" giving us back our money.
Please pray. Adoption and travel is so expensive, we really cant afford to throw away $600.00 for nothing. I know in my heart the God will fix this, so I am not stressed out.
Anyway, I have too many other things to stress about right now :>
Will keep you updated.
